Costa selects Professionalism, Dedication, leading Technology and Longevity for Communication Solutions

Restart SRL and NEC Enterprise Solutions have been chosen to provide Costa Mediterranea with a leading NEC Smart Cruise Communication Solution

Hamburg, Genoa, Hilversum, 13th October 2022 – Carnival Maritime GmbH, the leading Technical Organization of multiple brands within Carnival Corporation, confirms that it has selected NEC Enterprise Solutions with its leading SV9500 communications platform and in close partnership with RSTRT (Restart SRL) - one of the top Cruise System Integrators in Europe - to deliver, install and commission a state of the art Cruise Communications Solution, on board Costa Mediterranea.

As the Electrical Superintendent of Costa Mediterranea and Costa Atlantica states: "With many, if not all of the vessels within the wider Carnival Corporation fleet returning to full operation, it is crucial that the most critical component in on-board Cruise Communications is functioning at the right level. It was therefore when our incumbent PBX became End of Life on board the Costa Mediterranea, our criteria for a new communications platform were crystal clear:

•           Leading Technology Player

•           Experience in / and focus on the Cruise Industry

•           Robust and Strong Company / Longevity

•           System Integrator / Installation Partner with expertise in Cruise as well

We at Carnival Maritime chose the combination of NEC Enterprise, with their NEC Smart Cruise Solution, and Restart, a very well-reputed System Integrator from Genoa, Italy, and already known within our organization, to win the bid. As the Electrical Superintendent continues: "Now that the installation of the NEC UNIVERGE SV9500 PBX on board the Costa Mediterranea is concluded (on time & within budget), I can confirm we made the right choice."

Asked about their experiences of working with Carnival Maritime, Kees van Donk, Sr Director of Travel, Hospitality & Leisure at NEC Enterprise Solutions, confirms: "Not only am I grateful for the opportunity to work with our strategic partner Restart, but especially the experience of working with the top-notch team of Costa Mediterranea made a lasting impression on our team. We are honoured to be chosen for such a beautiful vessel within the Carnival Family – a family we know very well, with installations across multiple brands and in more than 25 vessels."

Alessandro Caruso, the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) of RSTRT, confirms: "In our view, NEC was indeed the perfect choice for Costa's selection criteria. The combination of leading products, a complete dedicated team and organization on Cruise, backed by a 100,000 people strong global company, was a no-brainer for us. The Restart team looks forward to working with NEC on many future cruise projects".

"Our team is so satisfied with the work being done by Restart and NEC for the Costa Mediterranea, that we also have awarded them the work to replace the incumbent PBX on board the Costa Atlantica vessel. We are looking forward to another successful installation!", the Electrical Superintendent concludes.
