Hilversum, November 5, 2009. The Netherlands Probation Service (Reclassering Nederland) has chosen Zetacom and NEC Philips Unified Solutions to provide a new communications solution which will be based on the UNIVERGE SV8300 communications platform.
Reclassering Nederland was looking for a new telephony infrastructure that could realize a phased transition from a decentralized to a centralized environment for its 10 regions, 25 offices and more than 1.700 employees. NEC Philips’ UNIVERGE SV8300 platform and the applications it supports proved to suit the requirements perfectly and was selected best of class.
The Netherlands Probation Service issued a European tender in June 2009 with the main objective of removing bottlenecks within the existing corporate telephony network. The order provided includes replacement of the existing infrastructure by an interconnected and centrally managed network that will support over 25 locations throughout The Netherlands. The total number of user devices amounts to approximately 2150.
The solution provided by Zetacom and NEC Philips not only offers the best value for money. In assessing the tenders, the future possibilities of the offered technology, the project approach and support during the operational phase were judged as well.
"An important condition for the selection was that a phased transition from a decentralized to a centralized environment should be possible. The solution was also to meet the specific requirements regarding the security of the network. The first locations will be implemented in November 2009, and we have full confidence in NEC Philips and Zetacom to realize this", said Peter Kranendonk, project manager Telephony at the Netherlands Probation Service.
Zetacom will deliver and implement the versatile SV8300 platform. Director Dick Dompeling of Zetacom: "An important aspect was that all sites are to initially operate stand-alone and easily migrate to a centralized environment at a later stage, while maintaining fully transparent functionality. This requirement made the choice for the SV8300 platform of NEC Philips obvious. Working closely together with NEC Philips we designed an appealing concept. In addition, we presented a customized project plan and maintenance plan. We have meanwhile started the rollout of the first locations. A project to be proud of! “said Dompeling.
According to Tonko Wedda, regional managing director Benelux and France at NEC Philips, the Business ConneCT application plays a major role in this project, as this Unified Communications solution provides the customer with unique opportunities to communicate more effectively. As a result, staff will be more accessible and can respond appropriately and flexibly to circumstances, reducing response times significantly.
