NEC to introduce new UNIVERGE SV8500 communications server in EMEA

Premier IP communications solution meets the advanced needs of large

Hilversum, The Netherlands, October 18, 2009 – NEC Philips Unified Solutions (NEC Philips) today announced it will soon be introducing its new UNIVERGE SV8500 enterprise communications server throughout EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa). The new solution build on NEC’s UNIVERGE®360 approach, which puts people, rather than technology, at the centre of business communications.

On show in EMEA for the first time at Gitex 2009 in Dubai, the UNIVERGE SV8500 is a powerful application server designed to easily and efficiently scale to meet the needs of the largest enterprises. The reliable and energy-efficient solution can support up to 192,000 ports in a networked environment, providing voice, unified communications and mobility solutions for tens of thousands of users.

Green, compact and secure – integrating latest UC applications and endpoints
Using 23% less power than previous generations IP communications servers, the SV8500 is an ecologically sound, compact system. Its architecture is ideal for mission-critical situations and ensures highest availability and business continuity, while its advanced end-to-end encryption on voice and signalling streams as well as authentication/ authorization make it highly secure.

The system facilitates NEC’s desktop productivity suites to deliver unified communications, fixed mobile convergence and advanced collaboration and supports the latest range of NEC endpoints, including the latest UNIVERGE DT700/DT300 series phones, with their extensive feature set, XML application support, and revolutionary modular design.

Customers ensured of investment protection and easy migration to full IP
The SV8500 is a full IP communication server with the ability to protect investments in earlier products. The system can accommodate existing systems such as SV7000 and/or NEAX 2400 thus providing existing customers with an excellent growth path to full IP.

Because it uses the same media gateways, interface cards, terminals, applications and maintenance plans as earlier NEC systems, customers and partners can reuse components installed and on stock.

Using both FCCS (Fusion) and CCIS networking for seamless integration, the SV8500 can be networked with other NEC systems, including the NEAX 2000 and the SV8300Existing customers with NEC’s legacy systems will experience minimal impact to the organization when migrating to the SV8500 thanks to the familiar features and programming, avoiding the need for additional training.

A phased roll-out of the new UNIVERGE SV8500 is planned over the coming months with full availability to be expected by early 2010.
