NEC’S new UNIVERGE SV8100 release 3 equips small and medium businesses with full mobility functionality

Enhancements include improvements in IP DECT, Mobile Extension and WiFi

Hilversum, The Netherlands, October 5, 2009 – With the introduction of Release 3.0 (R3) software for its UNIVERGE SV8100 series, NEC continues to provide new and enhanced features to its successful range of communication servers. This latest release, together with the introduction of a new WiFi proposition, specifically reinforces the company’s mobility offering to Small and Medium Businesses.

Full scale Mobility
The initial release of the UNIVERGE SV8100 already offered rich mobility solutions, including IP DECT and a Bluetooth handset. Release 3 further enhances the offered IP DECT and Mobile Extension functionality, as well as introduces a new portfolio of WiFi solutions. With all three mobility solutions (IP DECT, WLAN, Mobile Extension) supported, NEC offers organisations full flexibility in offering the solution of their choice and best fit to their circumstance and needs.

IP DECT and Mobile Extension improvements
By developing a new integration method for its DECT Access Points (DAPs), NEC can now unite all DAPs into a single IP duplication group. As a result, mobile users can roam freely with their DECT handset across a routed LAN/WAN. The new methodology also provides more resilience due to the fact that in case (connection to) a DAP should fail, the DECT handset will seamlessly change over to another DAP.

Mobile Extension improvements include Caller ID pass through and call Forward to Voice Mail.

Brand new WiFi offering
NEC’s mobility offering on the UNIVERGE SV8100 is supported by the introduction of a new WLAN controller, an Access Point and WiFi handset. The WL1700 acts as controller as well as Access Point and can support additional WL1500 Access Points. The attractive MH240 handset offers 10 speed dial keys and a phonebook which can contain up to 500 names.

Other new features offered by the SV8100 include Virtual Extension with Park Hold, Hot Desking with CTI connection and All VOIP resources Busy Alarm.

The InMail application can now be used as Centralised Voice Mail.

The UNIVERGE SV8100 communications server is extremely scalable in meeting the needs of growing businesses, whilst it remains simple and cost effective to set-up and manage.  Sales success across regions and industry sectors demonstrates the market’s appreciation for this system, which at an attractive cost exploits state of the art technology to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of organisations.
