NEC PHILIPS MAKES SEAMLESS ENTERPRISE MOBILITY A REALITY WITH NEXT RELEASE OF UNIVERGE ASSURED MOBILITY

Cost effective WLAN is attractive wireless solution for smaller organisations

ilversum, The Netherlands   April 24, 2008  –  With the introduction of a latest release of UNIVERGE Assured Mobility, NEC Philips Unified Solutions introduces significant enhancements to its Voice over Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution, making seamless enterprise mobility a reality. The new release adds enhanced functionality, a new Access Point and new terminals to the portfolio.

The new Access Point, the WL1700, is ideally suited to offer a very cost effective WLAN solution for smaller offices. Combining a WLAN controller and an Access Point, the WL1700 is an ideal solution for Small and Medium sized Businesses, as well as for larger organisations with offices spread over several locations. A WL1700 Access Point is capable of managing 3 additional WL1500 Access Points, while up to 6 WL1700 can be combined in a mobility domain, providing users wireless mobility including seamless handover.

New antenna options are available extending WLAN coverage to outdoor premises and enabling users to continue communicating while walking from one building to another.  The Assured Mobility Phase 2 release also includes two new terminals, the MH110 and the Polycom E340, which provide powerful functionality such as text messaging.

Voice, data and multi-media integrated with business applications
Convergence of voice and data drives market demand for Voice over WLAN, which is expected to complement and add to DECT and IP DECT solutions in the years to come. The NEC Philips solutions provide organizations comprehensive converged wireless communications, combining voice, data and real-time multimedia with mission-critical business applications. 

The user-friendly, fully integrated solution is robust, secure and highly scalable and comprises all key components such as wireless controllers, access points, network management software, user devices and applications. UNIVERGE Assured Mobility is compatible with the latest releases of NEC Philips’ 2000 IPS, SV7000 and iS3000 platforms.
