Hilversum, The Netherlands – May 22, 2007 – NEC Philips Unified Solutions (NEC Philips) has launched a new release of SIP@Net software for its acclaimed SOPHO iS3000 enterprise communication platform.
The new SIP @Net Rel 4.1 software includes major enhancements that take fullest advantage of SIP functionality, enabling customers to achieve cost savings and benefit from additional efficiency and expansion options.
New functionality provided by SIP @Net Rel 4.1 includes:
- Group functionality spanning SIP terminals and proprietary sets.
SIP based Polycom terminals now can easily be combined in one and the same group with NEC Philips’ proprietary range of ErgoLine digital phones, with much appreciated group features available across all terminals.
Group features available on Polycom’s range of SIP based terminals include selective answering, extension status monitoring, private /group park, group answering and private number functionality for group workers and chief secretary solutions.
- SIP based networking reducing network traffic and costs.
NEC Philips has now extended its SIP based trunking offer with a SIP variant of the company’s iPVN solution. With SIP based iPVN, voice traffic can be transported across a SIP carrier’s network, while feature and signalling information is routed over the customer's WAN network. By doing so customers can reduce traffic across their network, preventing capacity issues while fully exploiting the (often free-of-charge) SIP carrier’s network.
- Cost-effective deployment of SIP based Video Communication.
With a straightforward upgrade to SIP@Net 4.1 and an In System Gateway, SOPHO iS3000 installations now fully support video communication. Video can be practically and cost-effectively deployed with the Eyebeam Softphone or the dedicated GXV 3000 Grandstream video phone
- New communication options with SIP based user-to-user messaging.
SIP@Net offers standardized SIP based user-to-user messaging via end-user devices such as Polycom terminals, Eyebeam Softphones and ErgoLine terminals. This enables new applications and communication options, just like in mobile communications where text messaging (SMS) is a big success.
The SOPHO iS3000 communication platform provides organisations with maximum flexibility in implementing their IP migration strategy. SIP@Net is the iS3000 call processing software that includes SIP functionality across trunks, extensions and applications. It enables NEC Philips customers to fully integrate their communication and IT environments.
The SOPHO iS3000 supports a range of powerful applications and integrates with Microsoft Office Communicator (LCS/OCS) and Microsoft Exchange, providing real-time communications such as Instant Messaging, Unified Messaging and Audio and Web collaboration.
Customers can connect all kinds of devices, such as SIP-based conference units, voice over LAN-phones, SIP-based softphones, SIP videophones and SIP DECT radios. A software upgrade enables existing customers to benefit from the new functionality while protecting existing investments to the maximum.
