NEC’S UNIVERGE ASSURED MOBILITY EMPOWERS MOBILE WORKFORCE WITH ANYWHERE, ANYTIME COMMUNICATIONS

Hannover, Germany  –  March 14, 2007    At CeBIT (Hannover, 15-21 March) NEC Corporation is launching UNIVERGE Assured Mobility, the latest generation Wireless LAN (WLAN) communications solution.

UNIVERGE Assured Mobility combines voice, data and real-time multimedia with mission-critical business applications in a user-friendly, fully integrated and managed wireless solution. This robust, secure and highly scalable WLAN comprises all key components such as wireless controllers, access points, network management software and user devices. Based on NEC’s Wireless Optimized Architecture (WOA), it is optimised for real-time communications by incorporating quality of service, fast handover, increased handset battery life and high availability.

At CeBIT NEC will be showing the extensive functionality of this Voice over WLAN supported by MH250 terminals, the WL5100 controller, the WL1500 access points and the WLMS management software. UNIVERGE Assured Mobility will also support dual mode devices that integrate communications across enterprise and public networks.

Integrated applications include presence management, location services support, intelligent call redirection and directory information on a variety of mobile devices.   Assured Mobility will also allow users to roam on and off campus, with seamless transfer of communications from their wireless LAN to the mobile network and back again.

This new Mobility Solution is expected to accelerate and advance the mobile worker’s experience providing for seamless, secure communications, from any location and managed on any device.

UNIVERGE Assured Mobility will become available in Europe by May 2007 for the communication platforms 2000 IPS and SV7000.
