NEC Leverages its Activities in EMEA with Consistent Branding and Synergies of its Subsidiaries Across the Region

EMEA customers to benefit from strengthened products and services

London and Hilversum, March 31 2011 – NEC Europe Ltd, a subsidiary of NEC Corporation (NEC), announced today that it is aligning its pan-EMEA (Europe Middle East & Africa) country operations to leverage its solutions. Customers across the carrier, public and enterprise markets will benefit from further synergies across NEC’s rich portfolio. NEC will form one single legal entity per country with the changes taking effect from April 1 2011.

“The merging of NEC’s local entities across EMEA will offer a clearer, more powerful positioning of the NEC name and brand. Furthermore, our focus on cloud computing requires the integration of IT and communication network resources, skill sets and expertise,” said Nobuyuki Yanaginuma, Associate Senior Vice President of NEC Corporation and President of NEC Europe. “As well as computer and communications solutions, our business includes wireless network infrastructure, telecom operator cloud computing solutions, security solutions and social infrastructure solutions. The new structure will enable us to offer our solutions to a broad customer base, from carriers to enterprises and stimulate the cross selling of our many products across the region.”

NEC’s new competence centres will join its established competence centres for Carrier Cloud, Femtocell, Transport Network and Government and Public Sector. NEC will establish a new competence centre for Unified Communications to ensure the continued success of its unified communications business and expand its enterprise cloud business in EMEA. NEC Unified Solutions will become this competence centre for Unified Communications within the new organization as per April 1st 2011. In addition, NEC will establish an IT Solutions Competence Centre to expand its IT related solutions and systems integration business. It will enable the deployment of innovative NEC technologies to meet the needs of its large enterprise and government customers in EMEA and open on April 1st 2011 in Cambridge, UK.

All NEC competence centres will, where applicable, become part of the national legal entities alongside its country sales operations to provide customers with NEC’s broad portfolio via a single contact.
